Top 6 Children’s Books for Teaching Finance!

Hey Parents! Today we’re going to dive into the world of teaching financial literacy through the magic of storytelling. As you can tell by our name, “My First Finance Book” we’re pretty passionate about finance books for kids around here! And while we obviously think our books are the best for teaching your kids, we know that we’re also just a piece of the overall educational pie! So take a look at our list of the top 6 books below!

Table of Contents

Obviously we’re a bit partial to our own work, which is why we didn’t want to add these books to our list below. However, we do think (with full modesty) that our books compete on quality with the ones listed below! They might not have been around as long, but your children will learn about saving, budgeting, investing, entrepreneurship and much more in a very fun and story driven way! But enough about us, onto the list!

In this kids book Papa bear teaches Brother and Sister how to budget. The age group is for younger kids, like all Berenstain Bears’ books, but it’s still a classic that tops our charts today!

Another great kids finance book published in 2016, this time by James McKenna, Jeannine Glista, and Matt Fontaine. These are the same folks behind BizKid$, a fantastic resource for aspiring entrepreneurs! How to Turn $100 into $1,000,000 teaches kids the basics in three basic steps 1) Make it, 2) Save it, and 3) grow it!.

A fantastic book published in 2014 by Nancy Holoyoke and Brigette Barrager, focuses on young girls and helps teach them about money! This book is great because it incorporates quizzes and tips straight into the actual book. We’re also huge supporters of girls and women controlling their finances, so this book had to make the list!

As of 10/23/23 you can get it on Amazon for $9.99 here!

This book is part of a larger series called Money Tales by Barry Gott and Sheila Bair. Money Tales is a fantastic series with plenty of fun stories to keep your kids entertained while learning about finance, but this one in particular is our favorite. Rock and Brock are twins with different money saving styles. One is a saver and one is a spender, but they earn the same amount of money! It’s a fun book that shows the power of saving, and earning interest, and gives a relatable lesson to us all!
